The Cincinnati Reds placed closing pitcher Lucas Sims on the 15-day IL due to lower back spasms.
With a poor 7-24 record so far this season, the Reds haven’t been able to provide Sims many save opportunities in 2022.
It’s not fully clear how long the 28-year-old will be sidelined, but it seems like he’s the team’s primary closer moving forward.
Sims has thrown in 6.2 innings pitched this season for one save and seven earned runs.
Art Warren could possibly see more opportunities to pick up any save chances in Sims’ absence.
