The Atlanta Falcons have released 29 year-old running back Mike Davis, clearing $2.5 million in salary cap space.
Atlanta originally brought Davis in on a two-year, $5.5 million contract signed in March of 2021 before cutting ties with him today.
Davis played well in 2020 as a member of the Carolina Panthers behind Christian McCaffrey, and he was second on the depth chart with Atlanta behind Cordarrelle Patterson.
The hefty back has totaled 1,777 yards from scrimmage over the last two seasons with a total 12 touchdowns.
Davis should certainly receive calls from teams in need of a veteran running back during the offseason.
