Boston Celtics upcoming forward Robert Williams III has suffered a torn meniscus in his left knee and will be sidelined indefinitely.

Big blow for Williams and the Celtics, who were both looking for a playoff push as the regular season is nearing an end.

Williams left Sunday’s game against the Timberwolves after suffering the injury, and ESPN confirmed the injury.

The Celtics just moved into first place in the Eastern Conference standings, and Williams was a big part of that.

Without the 24-year-old on the floor, Boston may suffer a defensive hit on that side of the floor.

Williams was nearly averaging a double-double this season with 10.0 points per game and 9.6 rebounds.
