Cubs agree to $5.25M deal with Drew Smyly

Associated Press

The Chicago Cubs agreed to terms with free agent lefty Drew Smyly on a one-year, $5.25 million contract.

Smyly can earn up to $2.5 million in additional incentives according to ESPN.

Smyly somehow finished with an 11-4 record last season with the Braves posting a 4.48 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 117/41 K/BB ratio across 126 2/3 innings.

The 32-year-old’s ERA has been up and down over his last several seasons, but hopefully he can settle down and get back his early playing day form like his time spent with the Tigers and Rays.
