NFL suspends Calvin Ridley for sports betting

Associated Press

The NFL suspended Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Calvin Ridley “indefinitely at least through the conclusion of the 2022 season for betting on NFL games in the 2021 season.”

The league’s statement noted that Ridley bet on games during a five-day period in November after he had left the team to tend to his mental health.

The memo also states that Ridley was not betting with any insider information.

The 27-year-old can appeal the suspension, but the NFL takes gambling offenses very seriously, and they will likely push to keep his suspension in place.

Ridley played in just five games for the Falcons last season totaling for 31 receptions for 281 yards and two touchdowns.
