NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports New England Patriots cornerback J.C. Jackson won’t get the team’s franchise tag and will be a free agent.Â
Jackson has reportedly been displeased with New England’s lack of interest in retaining him for the upcoming 2022 season and beyond that.
He also said last month that he’d be willing to play under the team franchise tag (under $17 million), but it looks like he’ll be moving in another direction in the near future.
Pro Football Focus ranked the 26-year-old out of Florida the seventh best cornerback in 2021, so he’ll surely see plenty of interest in other teams this offseason.
Jackson’s spent four years in the league all with the Patriots, and he’s racked up 25 interceptions, 53 passed defended, and 158 total tackles.
