Michael Porter Jr. expected back before the season ends

Denver Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr. is expected to return to the court before the end of the regular season, according to the Denver Post.

Porter Jr. has been out since November 2021 after undergoing surgery on his lower back.

Mark Bartelstein, Porter’s agent recently spoke with the Denver Post:

“We couldn’t be happier with where he’s at in terms of his recovery from surgery and his progression towards playing. He badly wants to play, but we need to check all the boxes before that happens. He’s in as good of a place as we could’ve imagined.”

The Nuggets are currently sixth in the Western Conference standings, and adding Porter Jr. back would help the team take some of the load off of 2021 MVP Nikola Jokic’s shoulders.

Last season, the 23-year-old was averaging 19.0 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.

In September 2021, Porter Jr. signed a five-year, $172,550,000 contract extension with the Nuggets.
