The NFL salary cap will be $182.5 million for the upcoming 2021 season.
The cap is $500,000 less than teams were expecting, and it’s less than the 2020 cap of $198.2 million.
League officials also told teams that they will not be allowed to borrow cap room from future years to help them this season.
The NFL Players Association told their representatives that this year’s cap would have dropped to $155 million if all pandemic related losses had been taken into account.
Either way, it’s a solid figure for a season after a pandemic struck the world and no fans were allowed in stadiums.
