Serena Williams is matching up with Naomi Osaka in Thursday’s Semi-final round of the 2021 Australian Open.

Williams is looking to make history as she’s seeking to set a record-equaling 24th Grand Slam trophy.

The two last met in dramatic fashion in 2018 where Osaka upset Williams to win the US Open final.

The match was overshadowed by Williams’ argument with umpire Carlos Ramos when he deducted a point from her, which led to Williams calling him a thief.

Osaka is the No. 3 seed for this year’s Open, while Williams is the No. 10.

The 23-year-old has three Grand Slam Championships, the 2018 US Open, the 2019 Australian Open, and the 2020 US Open.

Williams and Osaka have played each other a total of four times, where Osaka won the first two matchups, and Williams winning the most recent two.

Both have only lost one set the entire 2021 Australian Open.

Their match on Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne will begin at 10 PM ET (7 PM PST), and will be played in front of a limited number of fans.

The winners in both the men and women’s brackets in this Open will receive $2,750,000, and the runner up will take home $1,500,000.
