The New York Jets have hired Robert Saleh, former 49ers defensive coordinator as the team’s next head coach.
Adam Schefter reported the the deal is five years.
Saleh is an ex-linebackers coach who spent the past four seasons as San Francisco’s defensive coordinator, and he nearly coached his way to a Super Bowl victory in 2019.
It may not be the quickest turnaround for the Jets, but Saleh is deserving of the opportunity.
The Jets have a young, talented quarterback in Sam Darnold who Saleh will get to work with for the future.
ESPN also reported that Saleh is expected to hire 49ers passing-game coordinator Mike LaFleur as his offensive coordinator.
