Yankees decline J.A. Happ’s $17M option

USA Today Sports

The New York Yankees declined starting pitcher J.A. Happ’s $17 million option for 2021.

Happ had a decent 2020 season with a 3.47 ERA and 1.05 WHIP in nine starts, but to pay him $17 million next season was a bit steep.

The 38-year-old lefty may have to bargain for a deal to stick with New York, or he’ll have to test the free agency market.
