The Chicago White Sox have signed 21-year-old infielder Yoan Moncada to a 5-year, $70 million contract.
The deal comes with a club option for 2025 worth an additional $25 million.
“My agents were the first ones to ask me what I wanted to do, you know, what were my plans in the long run,” Moncada said, “and then I told them that I wanted to stay here in this organization. Then I think they were the ones who approached the team and started all the conversation and I am very glad that this happened.”
Moncada slashed .315/.367/.548 last season with 25 home runs and 79 RBI.
The young star will be a big asset for fantasy owners this upcoming season.
