The Colorado Rockies and third baseman Nolan Arenado are nearing an 8-year contract extension worth $260 million
The deal includes an opt-out after 3 years and a full-no trade clause.
Arenado would have the largest average annual value of any position player, at $32.5 million, which tops Miguel Cabrera.
The Rockies are stepping up big-time to keep their star third baseman on the hot corner.
Arenado had previously earned $36,075,377 in contracts in his first six seasons, all with Colorado.
