The Yankees are “working hard now” on a trade of starting pitcher Sonny Gray.

The 29-year-old righty has become even more expendable to New York following the 3-year, $27 million free agent agreement with Adam Ottavino.

It’s noted that the Reds, Giants, Brewers, Athletics, Padres, Braves, and Mariners have all been connected to Gray at various points during this offseason.

Gray posted a disappointing 4.90 ERA in 23 starts and seven relief appearances last year, so the return will be light. He’s due $7.5 million in 2019.
