Week 4 in the NFL features plenty of intuiting, tough matchups that’ll be must see TV. Check out the breakdowns, betting odds, and predictions of each outing.
Minnesota Vikings (1-1-1) @ Los Angeles Rams (3-0) (Thursday Night)
- Time/Venue:Â 8:20 PM, Los Angeles Coliseum
- Moneyline:Â LAR -305, MIN +255
- Spread:Â LAR -6.5 (-125), MIN +6.5 (+105)
- Over/Under:Â O 49.5 (-111), U 49.5 (-109)
- Spread Consensus:Â 54% LAR -6.5
- Over/Under Consensus:Â 63% O 49.5
- Odds Shark Predicted Score: LAR 29.2 – MIN 10.9
- Record Against the Spread:Â LAR (3-0), MIN (1-2)
Pick – Rams
Los Angeles looks like Super Bowl contenders in just three weeks. They have a ton of talent on both sides of the ball and will be too much for Minnesota to handle. The Vikings just got stomped in their own stadium last week by what most thought was the worst team in the NFL in Buffalo. The Rams will take care of business once again.
Cincinnati Bengals (2-1) @ Atlanta Falcons (1-2)
- Time/Venue:Â 1:00 PM, Mercedes-Benz Stadium
- Moneyline:Â ATL -225, CIN +195
- Spread:Â ATL -5 (-110), CIN +5 (-110)
- Over/Under:Â O 51 (-112), U 51 (-108)
- Spread Consensus:Â 53% ATL 5
- Over/Under Consensus:Â 71% O 51
- Odds Shark Predicted Score: ATL 25.3 – CIN 23.2
- Record Against the Spread:Â ATL (1-2), CIN (2-1)
Pick – Falcons
Without Joe Mixon last week for against the Panthers, Cincinnati barely ran the ball. Giovanni Bernard ran 12 times for 61 yards and Tyler Boyd just one carry for 5 yards. The Bengals struggled without their workhorse back, and their star wideout A.J. Green left the game with a groin injury. Although Green is expected to play this week head coach Marvin Lewis declined to provide an update of Green’s status on Monday. With these two hobbled Cincinnati’s offense won’t be able to keep up with Atlanta’s, who averaged 34 points in the last two weeks. After suffering a tough OT loss last week against the Saints at home, Atlanta will prevail with a victory as their once again on their home field.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-1) @ Chicago Bears (2-1)
- Time/Venue:Â 1:00 PM, Soldier Field
- Moneyline:Â CHI -150, TB +130
- Spread:Â CHI -3 (-105), TB +3 (-115)
- Over/Under:Â O 47 (+110), U 47 (-120)
- Spread Consensus:Â 51% TB +3
- Over/Under Consensus:Â 63% O 47
- Odds Shark Predicted Score: CHI 30.0 – TB 18.8
- Record Against the Spread: CHI (2-1), TB (2-1)
Pick – Buccaneers
This pick is solely based on Ryan Fitzpatrick starting for Tampa Bay at QB. If Jameis Winston returns to the starting lineup from his three game suspension, The Bears could take this one. Winston had a sub par season last year for the Bucs with a 3-10 QB record, a completion percentage of 63.8, and a QB rating of just 54.0. If he starts this week, it will certainly throw off the Bucs’ rhythm as Winston is known for holding on to the ball for too long. If this is the case, Khalil Mack will have another field day.
Philadelphia Eagles (2-1) @ Tennessee Titans (2-1)
- Time/Venue:Â 1:00 PM, Nissan Stadium
- Moneyline:Â PHI -205, TEN +175
- Spread:Â PHI -4 (-110), TEN +4 (-110)
- Over/Under:Â O 41 (-115), U 41 (-105)
- Spread Consensus:Â 66% PHI -4
- Over/Under Consensus:Â 54% O 41
- Odds Shark Predicted Score:Â TEN 19.9 – PHI 18.3
- Record Against the Spread:Â PHI (1-2), TEN (2-1)
Pick – Eagles
The return of Carson Wentz for Philly last week was a game changer. He was a bit rusty, but with a week finally under his belt he’ll be back on track to his form last season. Tennessee got a big divisional win last week in Jacksonville, but they put just nine points on the board. The lack of depth at wide receiver for Tennessee hurts their offense, and the defending champs are too good at stopping the run.
Detroit Lions (1-2) @ Dallas Cowboys (1-2)
- Time/Venue:Â 1:00 PM, AT&T Stadium
- Moneyline: DAL -155, DET +135
- Spread:Â DAL -3 (-114), DET +3 (106)
- Over/Under:Â O 43.5 (-107), U 43.5 (-113)
- Spread Consensus:
- Over/Under Consensus:
- Odds Shark Predicted Score:
- Record Against the Spread:
Pick – Lions
Detroit got a huge confidence boost by defeating the Patriots last week by 16 points. This win could begin to steer the ship in the right direction. Detoit’s offense again displayed that its multi-talented, and their defense held Tom Brady to just 133 passing yards. Dallas is in desperate need of a stud wide receiver and their offensive line is struggling in pass protection. They allowed five sacks last week to Seattle and their tied for 2nd in the league in sacks allowed.
Buffalo Bills (1-2) @ Green Bay Packers (1-1-1)
- Time/Venue:Â 1:00 PM, Lambeau Field
- Moneyline:Â GB -400, BUF +330
- Spread:Â GB -10 (-105), BUF +10 (-115)
- Over/Under:Â O 45.5 (-110), U 45.5 (-110)
- Spread Consensus:Â 50/50
- Over/Under Consensus:Â 66% O 45.5
- Odds Shark Predicted Score:Â GB 27.7 – BUF 14.5
- Record Against the Spread:Â GB (1-2), BUF (1-2)
Pick – Packers
Buffalo had a monster team win last week in Minnesota, but they’ll be taken back down to earth this week in Green Bay. The environment of Lambeau Field will be a lot for Bills’ rookie QB Josh Allen to handle. The Packers are coming off a tough loss on the road last week in Washington, and they need to take their frustrations out on Sunday. Wrong place wrong time for Buffalo.
Houston Texans (0-3) @ Indianapolis Colts (1-2)
- Time/Venue:Â 1:00 PM, Lucas Oil Stadium
- Moneyline:Â IND -120, HOU +100
- Spread:Â IND -1.5 (-113), HOU +1.5 (-107)
- Over/Under:Â O 47 (-110), U 47 (-110)
- Spread Consensus:Â 55% IND -1.5
- Over/Under Consensus:Â 55% U 47
- Odds Shark Predicted Score:Â IND 25.2 – HOU 19.3
- Record Against the Spread:Â IND (2-1), HOU (0-3)
Pick – Texans
This is a tough choice in a divisional matchup in the AFC South. Both teams have a losing record and are in a must win situation to be relevant in their division. The Texans total offense outweighs the Colts’, which gives them the edge in this one. Houston is averaging 415 total yards per game while Indianapolis is averaging just 303.
Miami Dolphins (3-0) @ New England Patriots (1-2)
- Time/Venue:Â 1:00 PM, Gillette Stadium
- Moneyline:Â NE -290, MIA +245
- Spread:Â NE -7 (-102), MIA +7 (-118)
- Over/Under:Â O 47.5 (-110), U 47.5 (-110)
- Spread Consensus:Â 56% NE -7
- Over/Under Consensus:Â 65% O 47.5
- Odds Shark Predicted Score:Â NE 27.6 – MIA 17.0
- Record Against the Spread:Â NE (1-2), MIA (3-0)
Pick – Patriots
New England is off to a rocky start, and a divisional game with the Dolphins is just what they need to get going. Miami is off to a great start with a 3-0 record, but they haven’t beat the Pats in New England since 2008. New England will shake the rust off is a must win situation.
New York Jets (1-2) @ Jacksonville Jaguars (2-1)
- Time/Venue:Â 1:00 PM, TIAA Bank Field
- Moneyline:Â JAC -370, NYJ +310
- Spread:Â JAC -7.5 (-112), NYJ +7.5 (-108)
- Over/Under:Â O 38 (-115), U 38 (-105)
- Spread Consensus:Â 53% JAC -7.5
- Over/Under Consensus:Â 61% U 38
- Odds Shark Predicted Score:Â JAC 26.4 – NYJ 11.3
- Record Against the Spread:Â JAC (2-1), NYJ (1-2)
Pick – Jaguars
Jets rookie QB Sam Darnold has yet to see a secondary of this caliber, and this could lead to trouble. He struggled last week in Cleveland completing just 15 of 31 passing attempts for no touchdowns and two interceptions. With the Jaguars secondary locking up the Jets wideouts, pressure will be all over the New York backfield.
Cleveland Browns (1-1-1) @ Oakland Raiders (0-3)
- Time/Venue:Â 4:05 PM, Oakland Coliseum
- Moneyline:Â OAK -145, CLE +125
- Spread:Â OAK -3 (+100), CLE +3 (-120)
- Over/Under:Â O 45 (-102), U 45 (-118)
- Spread Consensus:Â 57% OAK -3
- Over/Under Consensus:Â 58% O 45
- Odds Shark Predicted Score:Â OAK 24.7 – CLE 16.8
- Record Against the Spread:Â OAK (1-2), CLE (3-0)
Pick – Raiders
This was the toughest matchup to choose this week. The game could very well go either way. Oakland is in a must win situation and head coach Jon Gruden is facing some scrutiny. A game plan can now be established around Browns rookie QB Baker Mayfield now that he has a game under his belt. However, Cleveland’s defense looks powerful at times with Myles Garrett applying pressure. Oakland being on their home field gives them the slight edge this week.
Seattle Seahawks (1-2) @ Arizona Cardinals (0-3)
- Time/Venue:Â 4:05 PM, State Farm Stadium
- Moneyline:Â SEA -170, ARI +150
- Spread:Â SEA -3 (-124), ARI +3 (+104)
- Over/Under:Â O 38.5 (-112), U 38.5 (-108)
- Spread Consensus:Â 66% SEA -3
- Over/Under Consensus:Â 53% O 38.5
- Odds Shark Predicted Score:Â SEA 19.4 – ARI 17.4
- Record Against the Spread:Â SEA (1-1-1), ARI (1-2)
Pick – Seahawks
Arizona has named rookie QB Josh Rosen as its starter this week, and they chose a bad week for this change. Although Seattle has just one remaining member of the Legion of Boom, their defense can still be aggressive. After watching Seattle throughout the years, they’ve shown that they love matchups like this. They swarm on weaker opponents and even more so when they’re in their own division.
New Orleans Saints (2-1) @ New York Giants (1-2)
- Time/Venue:Â 4:25 PM, MetLife Stadium
- Moneyline:Â NO -180, NYG +160
- Spread:Â NO -3.5 (-106), NYG +3.5 (-114)
- Over/Under:Â O 50 (-115), U 50 (-105)
- Spread Consensus:Â 59% NO -3.5
- Over/Under Consensus:Â 68% O 50
- Odds Shark Predicted Score:Â NYG 23.0- NO 22.0
- Record Against the Spread:Â NO (1-2), NYG (1-2)
Pick – Saints
After doubting the Saints on the road last week in Atlanta, that mistake won’t be made again. The Saints offense was yet again unstoppable putting up 43 points in an overtime victory. Drew Brees looks like he’s playing with Super Bowl intentions, and the Giants defense won’t be able to stop that high powered offense.
San Francisco 49ers (1-2) @ Los Angeles Chargers (1-2)
- Time/Venue:Â 4:25 PM, StubHub Center
- Moneyline:Â LAC -470, SF +395
- Spread:Â LAC -10.5 (-106), SF +10.5 (-114)
- Over/Under:Â O 46 (-112), U 46 (-108)
- Spread Consensus:Â 65% LAC -10.5
- Over/Under Consensus:Â 52% U 46
- Odds Shark Predicted Score:Â LAC 28.0 – SF 18.0
- Record Against the Spread:Â LAC (1-2), SF (0-3)
Pick – Chargers
The loss of 49ers starting QB Jimmy Garoppolo is a gigantic blow for the team. This will be an easy victory for the Chargers.
Baltimore Ravens (2-1) @ Pittsburgh Steelers (1-1-1)
- Time/Venue: 8:20 PM, Heinz Field
- Moneyline:Â PIT -175, BAL +155
- Spread:Â PIT -3.5 (-105), BAL +3.5 (-115)
- Over/Under:Â O 50.5 (-112), U 50.5 (-108)
- Spread Consensus:Â 50/50
- Over/Under Consensus:Â 54% O 50.5
- Odds Shark Predicted Score:Â PIT 25.9 – 23.1
- Record Against the Spread:Â PIT (1-2), BAL (2-1)
Pick – Steelers
Home field in this divisional matchup gives Pittsburgh the edge. Although the Ravens are ranked 1st so far this season in defensive total yards allowed, they haven’t faced a top tier QB. They gave up 3 TD’s in week two in the first half to A.J. Green, and the Steelers have stud wideouts all over the field.
Kansas City Chiefs (3-0) @ Denver Broncos (1-1-1) (Monday Night)
- Time/Venue:Â 8:15 PM, Broncos Stadium
- Moneyline:Â KC -215, DEN +185
- Spread:Â KC -4.5 (-115), DEN +4.5 (-105)
- Over/Under:Â O 56 (-110), U 56 (-110)
- Spread Consensus:Â 60% KC -4.5
- Over/Under Consensus:Â 53% U 56
- Odds Shark Predicted Score:Â DEN 28.0 – KC 22.2
- Record Against the Spread:Â KC (3-0), DEN (0-2-1)
Pick – Chiefs
The Chiefs have yet to be stopped by anyone, and they’re putting up 39.3 points per game. The Broncos defense is solid, but on the other side of the ball Case Keenum can yet be trusted.
