30-year-old tight end Julius Thomas has retired to return to school and get his PhD studying the effects of brain injuries.

The 2x Pro-Bowler caught 226 receptions for 2,406 yards and 36 touchdowns for the Denver Broncos, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Miami Dolphins.

In seven career seasons, Thomas earned $29,358,585 in NFL contracts.
