The Chicago Cubs have acquired second baseman Daniel Murphy from the Washington Nationals in exchange for minor league infielder Andruw Monasterio and a player to be named or cash consideration.
Murphy has just played in 56 games this season due to an injury, and he’s slashing .300/.341/.442 with six home runs and 30 RBI.
The 33-year-old is on a 3-year, $37,500,000 contract and will become an unrestricted free agent in 2019. Murphy has career earnings of $55,929,196 from contracts in 10 seasons.
