Chris Archer has been traded from the Tampa Bay Rays to the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for Austin Meadows, Tyler Glasnow, and a player to be named later.
Archer is 3-5 this season throwing a 4.31 ERA, the worst since his rookie campaign in 2012. This is his third season in-a-row with an ERA over four, so the Pirates are taking a gamble with Archer.
The 29-year-old signed a 6-year, $25.5 million extension back in 2014 with Tampa Bay. He has a career earnings of $17,217,666 from MLB contracts in seven career seasons.
