The NFL owners have unanimously approved the sale of the Denver Broncos to Rob Walton for $4.65 billion.
Walton is now the NFL’s richest owner with an estimated net worth at close to $70 billion according to Celebrity Net Worth.
The 77-year-old is the son of Walmart founder Sam Walton, and he served as the company’s chairman from 1992 to 2015.
The $4.65 billion sale of the Broncos is the highest price ever paid for a United States sports team.

Walton will take over along with his daughter, Carrie Walton-Penner, son-in-law, Greg Penner and a small set of known limited shareholders.Â
Denver was previously owned by the Bowlen family after Pat Bowlen bought the team in 1984 before passing away in 2019.
