The Boston Red Sox activated Chris Sale from the 60-day injured list to debut Tuesday against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Sale got up to 75 pitches last week in his final minor league tune-up for Triple-A Worcester, and he’s finally making his big league return.
The 33-year-old is expected to throw a max of 85 pitches against the Rays, and he’ll likely be evaluated heavily throughout the matchup.
Sale pitched just 42.2 innings last season, and he posted a 5-1 record and and 3.16 ERA.
Boston and Sale will take the field in Tampa Tuesday evening against right hander Corey Kluber.
