Milwaukee Brewers catcher Pedro Severino has been suspended for 80 games after testing positive for Clomiphene, a performance-enhancing substance.
Severino signed a one-year, $1.9 million contract with the Brewers in November and was likely going to split time with Omar Narvaez behind the plate this season.
Mario Feliciano or Brett Sullivan could play the role as Milwaukee’s backup catcher to begin the upcoming season.
The Brewers open the year on a four-game road trip series against the Chicago Cubs.
