The San Diego Padres acquired first baseman Luke Voit from the New York Yankees for pitcher Justin Lange.
After signing Anthony Rizzo, the Yankees decided to deal Voit as first base would have been clogged.
Padres fans should be happy with the trade for Voit, now 31-years-old, who has been very solid as a member of the Yankees.
Since entering the majors in 2017, Voit has a career .267/.357/.510 slash line with 73 home runs, 203 RBI, and 187 runs.
Also fitting in the DH slot, Voit should have plenty of opportunities in San Diego’s lineup.
