The Philadelphia Eagles released All-Pro defensive tackle Fletcher Cox after spending ten seasons with the team.
NBC reported that Cox would have been owed $18 million to become guaranteed at 4PM ET, so this is a clear salary cap move by Philly.
Cox, now 31-years-old, is now a free agent and is discussing a possible return to the Eagles for less money.
The six-time Pro-Bowler has struggled over the last three seasons and his sacks, tackles for loss, and QB hits have been low.
However, teams focus on double-teaming the DT because of his scary 1-on-1 ability.
Cox will see plenty of offers this offseason for teams looking for a veteran defensive talent.
