The Philadelphia Eagles claimed running back Kerryon Johnson off of waivers from the Detroit Lions.
It’s a confusing move as the Eagles just drafted RB Kenny Gainwell in the fifth round of the 2021 draft.
Philly also has Miles Sanders, Boston Scott, and Jordan Howard in the running back group, so adding another is strange.
However, Johnson is a solid back who can both run and catch the ball.
In his first three career seasons, all spent with Detroit, Johnson’s run for 1,225 yards and eight touchdowns to go along with 527 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns.
The 23-year-old will have to fight for touches this season with an already cluttered Philadelphia backfield.
