According to Ken Rosenthal of the Athletic, the MLB is finalizing a revised schedule for the Grapefruit League.
Teams will be placed on “pods” on the east and west coasts of Florida to minimize travel and risk of exposure to COVID-19.
The following west coast teams that will play 28 games will be:
- Philadelphia Phillies
- New York Yankees
- Toronto Blue Jays
- Pittsburgh Pirates
- Baltimore Orioles
- Tampa Bay Rays
- Boston Red Sox
- Minnesota Twins
- Atlanta Braves
- Detroit Tigers
The east coast teams playing 24 games are:
- Washington Nationals
- Houston Astros
- St. Louis Cardinals
- Miami Marlins
- New York Mets
The following dates will give an idea of when teams and players will open training camp and begin their seasons.
February 17 – General Reporting
February 26 – Mandatory Reporting
February 27 – Exhibition Games Begin
April 1 – Opening Day
- Johnny Cueto scheduled to start Thursday
- Trevor Story out of Red Sox lineup Tuesday
- MLB setting new rules beginning next season
