The Philadelphia Phillies signed catcher J.T. Realmuto to a five-year, $115.5 million contract.
Realmuto will reportedly have a $20 million salary in 2021 (with $10 million deferred), and a $23.875 million salary in each of the next four seasons.
The 29-year-old now has the highest annual average value ever for a catcher at $23.1 million, topping Joe Mauer at $23 million.
Realmuto is a 2x All-Star, 2x Silver Slugger, and 1x Golden Glove winner.
He batted .266/.349/.491 with 11 home runs and 32 RBI in 47 games last season.
