Newly acquired Indiana Pacers guard Caris LeVert underwent surgery Tuesday on a small mass found in his kidney.

Renal cell carcinoma was discovered on his left kidney during a MRI that was needed to complete his physical to become a member of the Pacers.

LeVert spoke on the issue:

“I didn’t have any symptoms. I was playing in games … I was feeling 100 percent healthy.”

“So, in a way, this trade definitely showed and revealed what was going on in my body, so I’m definitely looking at it from that side and definitely humbled to know that this trade could’ve possibly saved me in the long run.”

LeVert has no timetable to return to game action, but the good news is that he’s expected to make a full recovery.
