The Oakland A’s and third baseman Matt Chapman agreed to a one-year, $6.49 million deal to avoid arbitration.
Chapman was eligible for arbitration for the first time, and he got a very decent deal done with Oakland.
The 27-year-old is coming off of hip surgery, but he should be ready to go ahead of training camp.
Chapman hit .232/.535/.812 with 10 home runs and 25 RBI last season.
