The San Diego Padres have signed free agent shortstop Manny Machado for 10-years, $300 million.

The deal would be the largest free-agent contract in the history of American sports.

Tim Brown of Yahoo Sports reported that there’s an opt-out after the 5th year of the deal, which means Machado could test free agency again after his age-30 season.
