Cole Hamels Traded to the Cubs

Cole Hamels has been traded to the Chicago Cubs from the Texas Rangers in exchange for Eddie Butler, Rollie Lacy, a player to be named later, and cash considerations.

The Cubs will pick $5 million of the roughly $14.2 million that Hamels is owed between the remainder of his salary this season and next season’s buyout.

Hamels is struggling on the season sporting a 5-9 record with a 4.72 ERA.

The 34-year-old has earned a career total of $176,777,000 from MLB contracts in 13 seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies and Texas Rangers.
