The Minnesota Twins and catcher Gary Sanchez avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $9 million contract.
Sanchez originally requested $9.5 million and the Twins countered at $8.5 million when arbitration figures were exchanged in March.
Through his first 44 games this season, the 29-year-old’s hitting .224/.282/.435 with seven home runs and 27 RBI through his first 44 games for Minnesota.
Sanchez was traded to the Twins from the Yankees after seven seasons for Gio Urshela, Josh Donaldson, Isiah Kiner-Falefa, and Ben Rortvedt.
