The New York Yankees and starting pitcher Luis Severino have agreed to a 4-year, $40,000,000 contract extension.
The deal includes a $15 million club option for 2023.
The agreement, which is pending a physical, buys out all of Severino’s arbitration years and potentially his first year of free agency.
If the option is exercised, Severino would be locked up through his age-29 season and be in line to hit free agent at age 30.
