Gordon Hayward declines $34M player option

USA Today Sports

Boston Celtics forward Gordon Hayward has declined his $34 million player option and will become a free agent.

It’s an interesting move from Hayward to decline such a large amount of money, but he’s drawing interest in other teams.

The Atlanta Hawks, New York Knicks, and Charlotte Hornets are reportedly all looking to sign Hayward this offseason.

Hayward averaged 17.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 4.1 assists in 52 games played with the Celtics last season.
