Yankees Acquire Starting Pitcher James Paxton

The New York Yankees have acquired starting pitcher James Paxton from the Seattle Mariners for three prospects.

Pitching prospect Justus Sheffield, outfielder Don Thompson-Williams, and right-handed pitcher Erik Swanson were moved to Seattle in the deal.

Paxton posted an 11-6 record with a 3.76 ERA last season with the Mariners. He also threw 208 strikeouts in 160.1 innings pitched, both career highs.

In six career seasons with Seattle, 30-year-old Paxton earned $9,306,516 in contracts.
