Week 8 NFL Matchups: Breakdowns, Odds, Predictions

We’re already midway through the 2018 NFL regular season. Week 8 features some very appealing matchups along with a bunch of divisional rivalries. Check out the breakdowns, betting odds, and predictions for each game.

NFL: New York Giants at Houston Texans

Miami Dolphins (4-3) @ Houston Texans (4-3) (Thursday Night)

  • Time/Venue: 8:20 PM, NRG Stadium
  • Moneyline: HOU -345, MIA +290
  • Spread: HOU -7.5 (-108), MIA +7.5 (-112)
  • Over/Under: O 44 (-110), U 44 (-110)
  • Spread Consensus: 56% MIA +7.5
  • Over/Under Consensus: 50/50
  • Odds Shark Predicted Score: HOU 34.0 – MIA 11.8
  • Record Against the Spread: HOU (2-5), MIA (4-3)

Pick – Texans

Houston is too good on both sides of the ball for Miami to handle. The Dolphins’ offense also will be without wideouts Albert Wilson and Kenny Stills, which puts QB Brock Osweiler in an awkward position. Houston is trending in the right direction after winning four straight.

Carson Wentz

Philadelphia Eagles (3-4) @ Jacksonville Jaguars (3-4)

  • Time/Venue: 9:30 AM, Wembley Stadium
  • Moneyline: PHI -165, JAC +145
  • Spread: PHI -3 (-110), JAC +3 (-107)
  • Over/Under: O 42 (-110) JAC +3 (-110)
  • Spread Consensus: 67% PHI -3
  • Over/Under Consensus: 51% U 42
  • Odds Shark Predicted Score: PHI 23.4 – JAC 20.0
  • Record Against the Spread: PHI (2-5), JAC (3-4)

Pick – Eagles

The Jaguars are spiraling right now. They’ve lost three in a row averaging just 9.3 points in those contests. Philadelphia let one slip away last week, so this is a must win situation to contend in the NFC East.

Bears Cardinals Football

New York Jets (3-4) @ Chicago Bears (3-4)

  • Time/Venue: 1:00 PM, Soldier Field
  • Moneyline: CHI -300, NYJ +250
  • Spread: CHI -7 (-110), NYJ +7 (-110)
  • Over/Under: O 45.5 (-106), U 45.5 (-114)
  • Spread Consensus: 57% CHI -7
  • Over/Under Consensus: 58% O 45.5
  • Odds Shark Predicted Score: CHI 31.6 – NYJ 13.1
  • Record Against the Spread: CHI (3-3), NYJ (3-4)

Pick – Bears

Chicago played well in a loss against the Patriots last week, which shows they can compete against the higher-tiered teams. The Jets are are different team on the road and they lost their last two away matchups. Expect the Bears’ 9th overall offense to beat up the 20th ranked defense of New York.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers v New Orleans Saints

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-3) @ Cincinnati Bengals (4-3)

  • Time/Venue: 1:00 PM, Paul Brown Stadium
  • Moneyline: CIN -205, TB +175
  • Spread: CIN -4 (-115), TB +4 (-105)
  • Over/Under: O 54.5 (-110), U 54.5 (-110)
  • Spread Consensus: 62% CIN -4
  • Over/Under Consensus: 69% O 54.5
  • Odds Shark Predicted Score: CIN 30.9 – TB 26.8
  • Record Against the Spread: CIN (4-1), TB (2-4)

Pick – Bengals

Two of the worst defenses in the league face off in what could quite possibly be a shootout. These are the type of games where we’ve come to see Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston make costly turnovers. Cincinnati will bounce back after losing two straight games.

NFL: Detroit Lions at Dallas Cowboys

Seattle Seahawks (3-3) @ Detroit Lions (3-3)

  • Time/Venue: 1:00 PM, Ford Field
  • Moneyline: DET -160, SEA +140
  • Spread: DET -3 (-115), SEA +3 (-105)
  • Over/Under: O 49.5 (-116), U 49.5 (-104)
  • Spread Consensus: 52% SEA +3
  • Over/Under Consensus: 62% O 49.5
  • Odds Shark Predicted Score: DET 27.1 – SEA 19.1
  • Record Against the Spread: DET (5-1), SEA (3-2-1)

Pick – Lions

Detroit is back on track after winning two straight games. Having home field advantage is also key for the Lions. They’ve beaten the both the Patriots and Lions at home this season and they will take care of Seattle. The Seahawks also rank 27th in total offense, and they may have a difficult time getting going at Ford Field.

NFL: Cincinnati Bengals at Kansas City Chiefs

Denver Broncos (3-4) @ Kansas City Chiefs (6-1)

  • Time/Venue: 1:00 PM, Arrowhead Stadium
  • Moneyline: KC -500, DEN +405
  • Spread: KC -10 (-114), DEN +10 (-106)
  • Over/Under: O 55 (-110), U 55 (-110)
  • Spread Consensus: 54% KC -10
  • Over/Under Consensus: 62% O 55
  • Odds Shark Predicted Score: KC 37.6 – DEN 16.6
  • Record Against the Spread: KC (7-0), DEN (2-4-1)

Pick – Chiefs

Kansas City continues to look powerful by dominating everyone they’ve played minus New England. Although the Broncos defeated the putrid Cardinals last week, they lost four straight before that. Kansas City should stomp on Denver behind a rowdy crowd at Arrowhead Stadium.

Adrian Peterson

Washington Redskins (4-2) @ New York Giants (1-6)

  • Time/Venue: 1:00 PM, MetLife Stadium
  • Moneyline: N/A
  • Spread: WAS -1 (-104), NYG +1 (-116)
  • Over/Under: O 42 (-110) U 42 (-110)
  • Spread Consensus: 60% WAS -1
  • Over/Under Consensus: 63% O 42
  • Odds Shark Predicted Score: WAS 24.6 – NYG 21.4
  • Record Against the Spread: WAS (4-2), NYG (3-4)

Pick – Redskins

Somehow, someway, the Giants find a way to lose. They’re ranked 5th in the league in sacks allowed making it hard for the offense to build any momentum. They also can’t run the ball with just 83.7 rushing yards per game, which is third worst in the league. Washington will pound the ball on the ground with Adrian Peterson and he might have himself a good day.

NFL: Kansas City Chiefs at Pittsburgh Steelers

Cleveland Browns (2-4-1) @ Pittsburgh Steelers (3-2-1)

  • Time/Venue: 1:00 PM, Heinz Field
  • Moneyline: PIT -360, CLE +300
  • Spread: PIT -8 (-110), CLE -8 (-110)
  • Over/Under: O 50.5 (-110), U 50.5 (-110)
  • Spread Consensus: 52% CLE +8
  • Over/Under Consensus: 54% O 50.5
  • Odds Shark Predicted Score: PIT 35.0 – CLE 16.5
  • Record Against the Spread: PIT (3-3), CLE (5-2)

Pick – Steelers

The first match between these two in week one ended in a tie in sloppy weather conditions. Pittsburgh looks like the team we expected all season long, and their offense looks impressive. The Brows look confused on offense at times and they just shipped their number one back Carlos Hyde to Jacksonville. Pittsburgh will pick up their third win in a row on Sunday.

Devin Funchess

Baltimore Ravens (4-3) @ Carolina Panthers (4-2)

  • Time/Venue: 1:00 PM, Bank of America Stadium
  • Moneyline: BAL -130, CAR +110
  • Spread: BAL -2 (-108), CAR +2 (-112)
  • Over/Under: O 43 (-110), U 43 (-110)
  • Spread Consensus: 51% BAL -2
  • Over/Under Consensus: 57% U 43
  • Odds Shark Predicted Score: CAR 25.2 – BAL 21.6
  • Record Against the Spread: CAR (3-2), BAL (4-3)

Pick – Ravens

Baltimore’s got the best defense in the NFL in total yards allowed, which isn’t good news for Cam Newton and company. This one could be match of defenses with a low scoring output.

NFL: Los Angeles Rams at Oakland Raiders

Indianapolis Colts (2-5) @ Oakland Raiders (1-5)

  • Time/Venue: 4:05PM, Oakland Coliseum
  • Moneyline: IND -155, OAK +135
  • Spread: IND -3 (-110, OAK +3 (-110)
  • Over/Under: O 49.5 (-110), U 49.5 (-110)
  • Spread Consensus: 64% IND -3
  • Over/Under Consensus: 50/50
  • Odds Shark Predicted Score: OAK 26.0 – IND 24.0
  • Record Against the Spread: OAK (2-4), IND (3-4)

Pick – Colts

It’s still hard to figure out what Oakland is doing this season. They’ve just traded away their 2x Pro-Bowl #1 receiver Amari Cooper, which lessens Derek Carr’s receiving options. In a matchup of two poor teams last week between the Buffalo and Indianapolis, the Colts showed that they can handle weaker opponents by blowing out the Bills 37-5. With this being the case, expect Indianapolis to handle another poor ball club.

NFL: Los Angeles Rams at Tennessee Titans

Green Bay Packers (3-2-1) @ Los Angeles Rams (7-0)

  • Time/Venue: 4:25 PM, Los Angeles Coliseum
  • Moneyline: LAR -425, GB +355
  • Spread: LAR -9.5 (-110), GB +9.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: O 56.5 (-110), U 56.5 (-110)
  • Spread Consensus: 61% GB (+9.5)
  • Over/Under Consensus: 71% O 56.5
  • Odds Shark Predicted Score: LAR 39.4 – GB 10.8
  • Record Against the Spread: LAR (4-2-1), GB (2-4)

Pick – Rams

The Rams are finding ways to win at all costs. Green Bay doesn’t really have any impressive wins and they’re not convincing anyone that they can hang with the top contenders. This surely is the matchup of the day with these two squads, and LA will take care of business on their home field.

Matt Breida

San Fracisco 49ers (1-6) @ Arizona Cardinals (1-6)

  • Time/Venue: 4:25 PM, State Farm Stadium
  • Moneyline: N/A
  • Spread: PK SF (-108), PK ARI (-112)
  • Over/Under: O 43 (-103), U 43 (-117)
  • Spread Consensus: 61% SF
  • Over/Under Consensus: 56% U 43
  • Odds Shark Predicted Score: SF 23.0 – ARI 20.8
  • Record Against the Spread: SF (2-5), ARI (3-3-1)

Pick – 49ers

Arizona got the better of San Francisco in week five, so this is a revenge game between divisional opponents. Neither team wants to finish last in the NFC West. The 49ers offense is the difference maker this week. Arizona is still dead last in the league in total yards and much isn’t expected from them on Sunday.

Michael Thomas

New Orleans Saints (5-1) @ Minnesota Vikings (4-2-1)

  • Time/Venue: 8:20 PM, U.S. Bank Stadium
  • Moneyline: NO -105, MIN -115
  • Spread: PK NO (-115), PK MIN (-105)
  • Over/Under: O 52 (-110), U 52 (-110)
  • Spread Consensus: 52% NO
  • Over/Under Consensus: 69% O 52
  • Odds Shark Predicted Score: MIN 26.6 – NO 26.0
  • Record Against the Spread: MIN (3-2-2), NO (4-2)

Pick – Saints

Minnesota has just one impressive win against the defending champion Eagles. The only other top tier team that they faced is the Rams, where they lost on the road. The Saints have too many weapons on offense for Minnesota to keep track of. Also, New Orleans is looking for revenge from last season where they lost on the last play of the game in the Divisional round of the playoffs.

NFL: AFC Divisional-Kansas City Chiefs at New England Patriots

New England Patriots (5-2) @ Buffalo Bills (2-5) (Monday Night)

  • Time/Venue: 8:15 PM, New Era Field
  • Moneyline: NE -1150, BUF +800
  • Spread: NE -14 (-105), BUF +14 (-115)
  • Over/Under: O 44 (-110), U 44 (-110)
  • Spread Consensus: 69% NE -14
  • Over/Under Consensus: 71% O 44
  • Odds Shark Predicted Score: NE 27.3 – BUF 16.7
  • Record Against the Spread: NE (4-3), BUF (3-4)

Pick – Patriots

This one could get ugly fast for Buffalo. New England is rolling winning four straight games and they’re not looking in the rear view mirror.

Bye: Atlanta Falcons, Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Chargers, Tennessee Titans
