Philadelphia Eagles running back Jay Ajayi took out an insurance policy for loss-of-value prior to tearing his ACL, ending his 2018 season.

Ajayi was diagnosed with the injry after week five against the Minnesota Vikings.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that the policy can pay him up to $5 million, tax free, if he loses money in free agency as a result of the injury.

Ajayi will have an interesting free agency, as many teams passed on him in the 2015 NFL Draft due to a knee injury. He got taken in the 5th-round by Miami, as he didn’t disappoint.

The Pro-Bowler will be looking for a decent payday because he’s still on his 4-year, $2,500,813 rookie contract becoming a free agent after the season.
