Las Vegas has hosted major UFC events before and will continue to host events in the future, but will it ever have a fight bigger than Khabib Nurmagomedov v Conor McGregor?

Undefeated fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov is defending his championship for the first time against the UFC’s biggest star, Conor McGregor. This is the man who vacated the same title to fight Floyd Mayweather in a what can only be described as a farce, rather than a pursuit into the world of boxing.

McGregor has fought five times in Las Vegas, with a record of 4-1. The one defeat came at the hands of Nate Diaz by courtesy of a submission hold. Khabib has won two of his fights in the UFC via submission and has excellent wrestling ability, holding the UFC record for the most takedowns in one fight – 21.

The styles of Khabib and McGregor will make for an interesting fight. McGregor is mostly a stand-up striker, whereas Khabib prefers to take the fight to the mat and wear his opponents down. The beauty of the matchup is intensified as both fighters have very underrated abilities in each other’s fighting style.

Described as the UFC’s biggest fight by Dana White, the money for the fight is substantial. McGregor has already claimed he will pocket approx. $65 million from the fight. Khabib will more than likely double, possibly quadruple his net worth, which is currently believed to be approx. $2 million.

Not only could this be the biggest match in UFC history, defeating McGregor could prove to be the starting point for Khabib’s domination in the lightweight division.

If McGregor defeats Khabib, it would further cement his legacy as one of the greatest UFC fighters in history and start a new Irish reign in the UFC.
