Week 3 NFL Matchups: Breakdowns, Odds, Predictions

Week 3 in the NFL starts to reveal which teams are contenders and pretenders. Here’s a look into this week’s matchups, betting odds, and predictions.

Myles Garrett.jpg

New York Jets (1-1) @ Cleveland Browns (0-1-1) (Thursday)

  • Time/Venue: 8:20 PM, Browns Stadium
  • Moneyline: CLE -163, NYJ +143
  • Spread: CLE -3 (-119), NYJ +3 (-101)
  • Over/Under: O 40.5 (-116), U 40.5 (-104)
  • Spread Consensus: 58% CLE -3
  • Over/Under Consensus: 55% O 40.5
  • Odds Shark Predicted Score: CLE 23.9 – NYJ 14.1

Pick – Browns

Cleveland will pick up their first win tonight. After a strong showing in week one for rookie QB Sam Darnold, he struggled at home against the Dolphins with a 74.6 QB rating. Myles Garrett and the rest of the Browns’ defense will be the difference in this one.

New Oreleans Saints (1-1) @ Atlanta Falcons (1-1)

  • Time/Venue: 1:00 PM, Mercedes-Benz Stadium
  • Moneyline: ATL -160, NO +140
  • Spread: ATL -3 (105), NO +3 (-115)
  • Over/Under: O 53 (-120), U 53 (+100)
  • Spread Consensus: 51% ATL -3
  • Over/Under Consensus: 71% O 53
  • Odds Shark Predicted Score: NO 22.0 – ATL 21.5

Pick – Falcons

As usual, the Saints are a different team on the road and can’t quite seem to get it together. New Orleans hasn’t had an above .500 record on the road since the 2011 season. The Falcons are getting the slight edge because of their home field advantage in this matchup. Last season, the divisional rivals split the series 1-1 with the Saints losing one on the road.

Fletcher Cox.jpg

Indianapolis Colts (1-1) @ Philadelphia Eagles (1-1)

  • Time/Venue: 1:00 PM, Lincoln Financial Field
  • Moneyline: PHI -275, IND +230
  • Spread: PHI -6.5 (-113), IND +6.5 (-107)
  • Over/Under: O 47.5 (-105), U 47.5 (-115)
  • Spread Consensus: 56% PHI -6.5
  • Over/Under Consensus: 53% O 47.5
  • Odds Shark Predicted Score: PHI 24.4 – IND 17.8

Pick – Eagles

The Colts have been better protecting QB Andrew Luck so far this season, but this may change this week. Indianapolis is going into a Philly stadium with what will be a juiced up crowd, especially with the return of Eagles QB Carson Wentz. Philadelphia’s defense will pick up after suffering a tough loss against the Bucs.

Patrick Mahomes.jpg

San Francisco 49ers (1-1) @ Kansas City Chiefs (2-0)

  • Time/Venue: 1:00 PM, Arrowhead Stadium
  • Moneyline: KC -280, SF +235
  • Spread: KC -6.5 (-115), SF +6.5 (-105)
  • Over/Under: O 56 (-119), U 56 (-101)
  • Spread Consensus: 62% KC -6.5
  • Over/Under Consensus: 63% O 56
  • Odds Shark Predicted Score: KC 28.5 – SF 21.8

Pick – Chiefs

The Chiefs and the emergence of 2nd year QB Patrick Mahomes look unstoppable. It’s hard to see San Francisco going into Arrowhead Stadium and picking up the W.

Ryan Tannehill.jpg

Oakland Raiders (0-2) @ Miami Dolphins (2-0)

  • Time/Venue: 1:00 PM, Hard Rock Stadium
  • Moneyline: MIA -170, OAK +150
  • Spread: MIA -3 (-125), OAK +3 (+105)
  • Over/Under: O 44 (-116), U 44 (-104)
  • Spread Consensus: 54% MIA -3
  • Over/Under Consensus: 55% O 44
  • Odds Shark Predicted Score: MIA 21.3 – OAK 20.6

Pick – Dolphins

The Raiders can’t seem to get too much going on both offense and defense, and the hole in their front seven is being exploited without Khalil Mack. Miami is thrilled to be 2-0, and will take advantage of a confusing Raiders team under head coach Jon Gruden.

Stefon Diggs.jpg

Buffalo Bills (0-2) @ Minnesota Vikings (1-0-1)

  • Time/Venue: 1:00 PM, U.S. Bank Stadium
  • Moneyline: MIN -1300, BUF +875
  • Spread: MIN -17 (+100), BUF +17 (-120)
  • Over/Under: O 40.5 (-108), U 40.5 (-112)
  • Spread Consensus: 64% MIN -17
  • Over/Under Consensus: 71% O 40.5
  • Odds Shark Predicted Score: MIN 36.1 – BUF 5.4

Pick -Vikings

This is an easy one to choose. Possibly the worst team in the NFL this season against arguably the best defense in the league.

Adrian Peterson.jpg

Green Bay Packers (1-0-1) @ Washington Redskins (1-1)

  • Time/Venue: 1:00 PM, FedEX Field
  • Moneyline: GB -144, WAS +124
  • Spread: GB -3 (+100), WAS +3 (-120)
  • Over/Under: O 45.5 (-105), U 45.5 (-115)
  • Spread Consensus: 67% GB -3
  • Over/Under Consensus: 73% O 45.5
  • Odds Shark Predicted Score: WAS 25.6 – GB 18.9

Pick – Packers

The Redskins looked bad running the ball last week against the Colts, and if that continues they’ll be one dimensional. Green Bay has too much firepower with Aaron Rodgers back at QB.

Christian McCafrey.jpg

Cincinnati Bengals (2-0) @ Carolina Panthers (1-1)

  • Time/Venue: 1:00 PM, Bank of America Stadium
  • Moneyline: CAR -145, CIN +125
  • Spread: CAR -3 (+100), CIN +3 (-120)
  • Over/Under: O 43.5 (-110), U 43.5 (-110)
  • Spread Consensus: 53% CAR -3
  • Over/Under Consensus: 66% O 43.5
  • Odds Shark Predicted Score: CAR 26.4 – 23.3

Pick – Panthers

No one has been able to cover A.J. Green so far this season, but the absence of RB Joe Mixon gives Carolina the ability to focus on Green. Mixon has been a huge part of the Bengals 2-0 success, but they will struggle this week without him.

TJ Yeldon.jpg

Tennessee Titans (1-1) @ Jacksonville Jaguars (2-0)

  • Time/Venue: 1:00 PM, TIAA Bank Field
  • Moneyline: N/A
  • Spread: JAC -6.5 (-115), TEN +6.5 (-105)
  • Over/Under: 39.5 (-110), U 39.5 (-110)
  • Spread Consensus: N/A
  • Over/Under Consensus: N/A
  • Odds Shark Predicted Score: N/A

Pick – Jaguars

The Jaguars secondary will be too much for QB Blaine Gabbert to handle. Jacksonville torched the Patriots last week, and their success will continue vs. Tennessee.

Emmanuel Sanders.jpg

Denver Broncos (2-0) @ Baltimore Ravens (1-1)

  • Time/Venue: 1:00 PM, M&T Bank Stadium
  • Moneyline: BAL -215, DEN +185
  • Spread: BAL -5 (-108), DEN +5 (-112)
  • Over/Under: O 44 (-120), U 44 (+100)
  • Spread Consensus: 50/50
  • Over/Under Consensus: 51% U 44
  • Odds Shark Predicted Score: BAL 29.7 – DEN 11.9

Pick – Ravens

The numbers are stacked by Vegas in Baltimore’s favor, which should account for something big right?. The Ravens will bounce back from a divisional loss last week against Cincinnati.

Deshaun Watson.jpg

New York Giants (0-2) @ Houston Texans (0-2)

  • Time/Venue: 1:00 PM, NRG Stadium
  • Moneyline: HOU -250, NYG +210
  • Spread: HOU -6 (-112), NYG +6 (-108)
  • Over/Under: O 42 (-110), U 42 (-110)
  • Spread Consensus: 50/50
  • Over/Under Consensus: 64% O 42
  • Odds Shark Predicted Score: HOU 28.0 – NYG 12.5

Pick – Texans

The Giants are struggling protecting Eli Manning, as they’ve given up 8 sacks which is tied for 5th most in the league. Houston will pick up their first victory at home this week.

Aaron Donald.jpg

Los Angeles Chargers (1-1) @ Los Angeles Rams (2-0)

  • Time/Venue: 4:05 PM, Los Angeles Coliseum
  • Moneyline: LAR -305, LAC +255
  • Spread: LAR -7 (-108), LAC +7 (-112)
  • Over/Under: O 48 (-108), U 48 (-112)
  • Spread Consensus: 62% LAR -7
  • Over/Under Consensus: 69% O 48
  • Odds Shark Predicted Score: LAR 23.7 – LAC 14.5

Pick – Rams

Just like last week, the Rams have too much firepower on both sides of the ball for the Chargers to handle. The battle of LA will go in the Rams’ favor for the time being.

Allen Robinson.jpg

Chicago Bears (1-1) @ Arizona Cardinals (0-2)

  • Time/Venue: 4:25 PM, State Farm Stadium
  • Moneyline: CHI -250, ARI +200
  • Spread: CHI -5.5 (-110), ARI +5.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: O 38 (-107), U 38 (-113)
  • Spread Consensus: 66% CHI -5.5
  • Over/Under Consensus: 54% O 38
  • Odds Shark Predicted Score: CHI 25.6 – 13.2

Pick – Bears

Arizona is arguably the worst team in the league right now. Chicago’s defense looks revamped with the addition of Khalil Mack, and their leading the league in sacks. Chicago takes this one.

Russell Wilson.jpg

Dallas Cowboys (1-1) @ Seattle Seahawks (0-2)

  • Time/Venue: 4:25 PM, CenturyLink Field
  • Moneyline: SEA 125, DAL +105
  • Spread: SEA -1.5 (-112), DAL +1.5 (-108)
  • Over/Under: O 41.5 (-110), U 41.5 (-110)
  • Spread Consensus: 50/50
  • Over/Under Consensus: 61% U 41.5
  • Odds Shark Predicted Score: SEA 20.6 – DAL 17.0

Pick – Seahawks

Although Seattle’s Leigon of Boom reign has come to an end, they’ll seal the deal this weekend. Home field advantage gives the Seahawks the edge.

Rob Gronkowski

New England Patriots (1-1) @ Detroit Lions (0-2)

  • Time/Venue: 8:20 PM, Ford Field
  • Moneyline: NE -285, DET +240
  • Spread: NE -6.5 (-115), DET +6.5 (-105)
  • Over/Under: O 53 (-116), U 53 (-104)
  • Spread Consensus: 70% NE -6.5
  • Over/Under Consensus: 66% O 53
  • Odds Shark Predicted Score: NE 28.5 – DET 18.1

Pick – Patriots

After a beatdown last week against the Jags, New England will take care of business in Detroit. The Lions look dysfunctional under new head coach Matt Patricia.

DeSean Jackson.jpg

Pittsburgh Steelers (0-1-1) @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-0) (Monday Night)

  • Time/Venue: 8:15 PM, Raymond Jones Stadium
  • Moneyline: PIT -125, TB +105
  • Spread: PIT 1.5 (-113), TB +1.5 (-107)
  • Over/Under: O 53.5 (-112), U 53.5 (-108)
  • Spread Consensus: 56% TB +1.5
  • Over/Under Consensus: 69% O 53.5
  • Odds Shark Predicted Score: TB 29.6 – PIT 24.5

Pick – Buccaneers

Ryan Fitzpatrick looks rejuvenated and is dominating right now. Pittsburgh defense is giving up a lot of points, and they’ll lose if they get into another shootout.
